No terragen landscapes this time around - just pure photoshop work. I spent about 15+ hours on this, but a lot of that time was spent just waiting for it to save or finish a brush stroke, simply because the size of it was so big and brought my upper mid-range gaming PC to its knees. Then again, I pretty much have to have extra large original files since I submit prints, and the larger the canvas is, the more detail it will look when it is sized down.

I started randomly painting blobs and adding some clouds in the center. I was honestly thinking about giving up and submitting it as it was, with like 80% black space around it. But I put that off and eventually added more clouds, planets, and other small details. Let me tell you, that small asteroid ring around the upper planet was a serious pain in the ass to get into the right shape and look right, but I think it all came out all right in the end.
